Fresh off a remarkable 7th place finish in the Sportsman Moto class at the 2019 SCORE Baja 1000, Tyler Harvey has established himself as a determined desert racing competitor from the challenging Nevada desert terrain. The Boulder City-based racer demonstrated exceptional endurance and skill during the grueling 1,226-mile peninsula race from Ensenada to La Paz, completing the course in 35:20:14 aboard his Honda CRF450X.
Harvey's achievement came in one of the most competitive Sportsman Moto fields in recent memory, with 27 starters representing riders from across the globe including Japan, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the United States. His solid mid-pack finish showcased both his mechanical preparation and riding stamina required for SCORE's most prestigious event. The 2019 Baja 1000 proved particularly challenging, with only 20 of the 27 Sportsman Moto entries successfully completing the demanding course.
Working alongside his team including Chuck Harvey and Chuck McRae, Harvey represents the grassroots spirit of SCORE desert racing, where dedication and preparation often triumph over pure speed. His performance demonstrates the potential for continued growth in the ultra-competitive world of Baja racing.
The close racing between the 212x team of Carlos Silva and the 284x team of Shane Shorno was another big match-up that was settled at this year’s SCORE Baja 1000. Silva crossed the finish line first to win the class along with co-riders Oswaldo Moncada, Javier Salazar, Joel Leal, Hector Cardenas, and Phillip Herrera. Read More
