Building his reputation as a formidable UTV competitor, this Eastvale-based racer has established himself as a consistent threat in SCORE International desert racing's most challenging events. His breakthrough moment came at the 2018 SCORE Baja 1000, where he secured a hard-fought second place class finish in the grueling 1,000-mile odyssey, demonstrating elite-level competitiveness against the world's best desert racers.
Racing primarily in the highly competitive PRO UTV FI class, he has proven his mettle in both the legendary Baja 1000 and the technical Baja 500. His racing resume includes multiple starts in these premier events, consistently finishing among the top competitors in fields that regularly see fewer than 60% completion rates. The 2018 Baja 1000 podium finish stands as a testament to his driving skill and team preparation, as he navigated the notorious Baja Peninsula's unforgiving terrain of rocky mountain passes, sandy washes, and technical single-track sections.
Operating a Can-Am Maverick X3, he represents the modern evolution of desert racing, where UTVs have become serious contenders against traditional Trophy Trucks and Class 1 vehicles. His consistent participation in SCORE's most prestigious events demonstrates his commitment to competing at the highest levels of off-road motorsports.
A total of 36 UTV teams descended into San Felipe to compete at the 52nd BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500 Presented by 4 Wheel Parts. The largest concentration of teams and racers was within the Pro UTV FI, class, and as such, the competition was as tough as the course itself. 2019 SCORE Baja 500 class winner Craig Scanlon, 2019 SCORE Baja 1000 class winner Justin Lambert, 2019 SCORE Baja 400 class winner Wes Miller, and 2019 SCORE Pro UTV FI Class Champion Wayne Matlock were some of the racers wanting to add this 2020 race to their list of accomplishments, but winning it would not be as easy as those other times. Considering nearly half of the field of Pro UTV FI class racers didn’t finish, Baja definitely won the day with these competitors. Those that know the class and the sport, however, can count on the more experienced racers and past season champions to figure out how to finish at the top of the class. Wayne Matlock, Brandon Schueler, Marc Burnett, Jason and Derek Murray, and Lucerna SCORE Baja 400 winner Craig Scanlon and others, put their skills and vehicles through the worst that Baja could offer and managed to finish the race. But it wasn’t easy. Read More

With the high probability of component failure and missing the cut-off time to finish a SCORE race, you begin to realize how difficult it is to obtain one of SCORE's Milestone Awards. Read More
