Mark Johnson carved his name into SCORE desert racing history with a hard-fought third-place class finish at the prestigious 2017 SCORE Baja 1000, demonstrating elite-level competitiveness in motorsport's most grueling desert endurance challenge. His podium performance in the 50th anniversary edition of the legendary peninsula run showcased the skill and determination that defines championship-caliber desert racing.

The Riverside, California native tackled the punishing 1,134-mile course from Ensenada to La Paz during one of the most competitive Baja 1000 events in recent memory. Among 404 starters representing 44 U.S. states and 28 countries, Johnson's class podium finish placed him among an elite group of just 237 finishers who conquered the treacherous Baja California terrain.

Johnson's achievement came during a milestone year for the sport, as the 2017 race marked five decades of the world's premier desert racing challenge.
